Prior to the inauguration of the diocese there was a mass house to house mission that was arranged
that covered the whole diocese and big number of people came to the Lord Jesus Christ. This
campaign was led by a Christian organization called NAZUULA. This organization was invited by
Bishop Yokaana Mukasa Balikuddembe, the first bishop.
The mission department has been led by several coordinators over time since it’s inception are as follows: The late Canon Keefa Kiiza, Rev. Canon Jethro Wasswa Ssebulime, Rev. Canon John
Musaasizi, Rev. Canon Benon Semmambo, Rev. Johnson Kansiime, Rev. Samuel Ssebbaale and

VISION OF THE MISSION DEPARTMENT.
To make Mityana Diocese a missionary sending diocese with in Uganda but also to all nations of the
world.
MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
To equip believers in every parish in evangelism and discipleship.
GOAL OF THE DEPARTMENT
To have believers and all church leaders prioritize mission and discipleship.
OUR ARCHIEVEMENTS
We have and still training parish Mission teams all over the diocese with an aim of having the gospel be
preached everywhere but also have Christians be discipled into Christlikeness. Out of
these parish mission teams we are raising missioners who can reach schools, hospitals, markets,
churches with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
About 15 parishes have established parish mission teams.
We have established clergy mission teams.
We are having ongoing quarterly conferences for clergy and lay readers where we meet for prayer and fasting and re-orienting ourselves on how we can help the
church prioritize mission and discipleship.
In order to empower our mission teams holistically, as mission coordinator, we gave out piglets to
members of the core mission team to improve their economic status. We encouraged each member
to give a piglet to the other whenever they reproduce. This has helped some
members to get some income and bless the mission department in return.
We have held seminars and retreats for priests, lay readers, mission coordinators and
intercessors and these have had some lay readers come to Jesus and also improve their spiritual
lives.
We have reached almost all church schools of the diocese with the gospel in 2022 and 2023 with the
help of World Shine ministries and the Scripture Union of Uganda.
FUTURE PROSPECTS;
We shall be holding regular friends for Mission network meetings for people who are willing to support our mission activities.
We anticipate that by 2027, we shall have the capacity to send out teams to any part of the world for mission activities.
We also expect to have self sustaining coffee projects for supporting mission activities.
We wish to work with skilling Uganda to offer income generating skills to the established
parish mission teams to enable them earn finances for their living and supporting
ministry.
We look forward to collaborating with Christian mission organizations to offer us support for the mission activities through funding, training and networking.
